Ouch — it appears Alexander Skarsgard‘s Thanksgiving included an unexpected trip to the hospital.

The 41-year-old actor shared a photo of a bloody cut on his hand to Instagram Thursday. He wrote that he had to head to the hospital for stitches, although he did not specify how the injury happened.

The Big Little Liars star thanked members of the hospital staff.

“Today I give thanks to nurse Rosalie and doctor Taleb at the local hospital in Lachute, Quebec. Their swift and heroic action saved my life,” he captioned the post, adding the hashtag #snitchesgetstitches.

Fans wished the actor a speedy recovery in the comment section.

Skarsgard is currently filming The Hummingbird Project, which also stars Jesse Eisenberg and Salma Hayek, near Montreal.

The Emmy Award winner recently debuted a new hair ‘do, likely for his role in the new film. He looked almost unrecognizable last month when he hit the red carpet at the Volez Voquez Voyagez x Louis Vuitton event in N.Y.C. sporting a partially bald look. Skarsgard shaved the top of his head completely off and left the rest of his hair cut short at the sides and in the back.

The film is about “a pair of high-frequency traders go up against their old boss in an effort to make millions in a fiber-optic cable deal,” according to IMDb.
