Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan's Split 'Came Out of Nowhere' but 'They'll Probably Get Back Together': Source

Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan's breakup may be short lived.

A source close to the former couple tells PEOPLE that their split came out of left field when they decided to part ways over Super Bowl weekend.

"It happened Friday or Saturday, but most likely on Saturday," the source says. "They were just with friends last Thursday or Friday and no one saw any issues and they were happy. They’ll probably get back together."

The insider adds, "It’s relationship stuff. But apparently came out of nowhere so when the emotions settle, it will maybe be fine.”

Another source corroborates the news and confirms to PEOPLE that Pippen, 49, and Jordan, 33, made the mutual decision to "take some time apart to reevaluate their relationship."

"This has nothing to do with any family input, but solely for their personal growth," the source notes.

Hours after both Pippen and Jordan unfollowed each other and wiped their Instagram accounts of all traces of each other, PEOPLE confirmed The Real Housewives of Miami star and the son of Michael Jordan had gone their separate ways.

As split rumors swirled on Monday morning, Pippen shared a thinly veiled quote on her Instagram Story: “The man you choose to be your partner affects everything in your life. Your mental health, your peace of mind, your love inside you, your happiness, how you get through tragedies, your successes, how your children will be raised and much more.” 

The quote concluded, “Choose wisely.”

Pippen also drove speculation into overdrive on Sunday night that she and Jordan had split when she shared an Instagram Story poll to her followers: "Should your friends unfollow your ex?"

The poll accompanied a video of Morgan Freeman speaking about trusting one's "inner voice." Given the sudden absence of photos of each other on the celebrities' respective accounts, fans couldn't help but wonder if they'd hit the end of the road as a couple.

Pippen and Jordan first met through mutual friends at a party in Los Angeles in 2019. By 2022, their relationship blossomed, and romance rumors began to swirl after they were spotted out to lunch together in September of that year.

Still, Pippen played coy while speaking with PEOPLE at BravoCon 2022 that October. "We're friends," she said. "We've been friends for a few years and that's really what it is. We're friends."

In January 2023, however, the pair appeared to confirm their romance when they were seen kissing while taking a walk in Miami Beach, Florida. Days after, multiple sources confirmed their romance to PEOPLE.

Nearly a year later, the former couple told PEOPLE that they weren't engaged but could be soon at the iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball in December. “It's in the works,” Jordan said, to which Pippen added, “I feel like we've been looking at rings,”

“We've definitely been shopping. That's for sure,” he confirmed.
