‘One Dip Kiss at a Time:’ Newlyweds Travel the World Recreating Iconic Kissing Photo

Posted on

Rob and Joli Switzer didn’t let a long distance relationship keep them from making one-of-a-kind memories.

Rob, from Pennsylvania, and Joli, born in the Philippines, began dating in 2013 despite living a world away from each other. The avid travelers would often meet up in picturesque locations and captured the moment in sweet photos in which they recreated the iconic kissing photo taken in 1945.

“Everyone was taking jump shots and signature travel poses, so we thought about creating our own cute pose, just for kicks,” the couple wrote in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page. “We tried different ideas, and the ‘dip kiss’ ended up being the one that was both romantic and playful; while making people smile as they took the photo for us.”

Now, the couple has shared their story on their blog, Dip Kiss Travels, and their Instagram account is filled with photos of the love birds striking the pose in the U.S., Portugal, Italy, United Arab Emirates and more. Rob has visited nearly 50 countries and Joli has been to 28, the couple added.

However, the trips were no problem for the travel-lovers who met at a party in the Philippines.

“After a few years of messaging each other online, we started a long distance relationship; so traveling also became our way to meet … in different parts of the world,” they wrote.

The love birds married in June and now live together in Maryland, but they’ve carried on their travel (and photo) tradition.

“We love that travel is a humbling experience that teaches you so much about different people and cultures; and in the process, it also helps you reflect about yourself and your own culture,” they added in the post.

“We hope to inspire others and help them see the world through our photos and our adventures.”

They continued: “Since meeting each other, we’ve tweaked our lifestyle to be more focused on spending our money on experiences, and less on material things.”
