A Tennessee police officer left his lieutenant post after 25 years recently, and shared an emotional final call with his daughter, a dispatcher.

Chattanooga Police Lt. Austin Garrett retired from the department earlier this month before joining the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, WTVC reported. Video of his final call showed Garrett and his daughter, Haley Garrett, becoming emotional as they shared their last officer-dispatcher conversation.

“Twenty-five years of service. I’ll be out of service a final time,” Austin is heard saying. “Be careful. Don’t forget who you are.”

Haley appeared to cry as she took her father’s call in the control room. She wished Austin a farewell with an emotional goodbye.

“Thank you for 25 years of service at the Chattanooga police department,” she began. “You’ve been a mentor and great friend to many during your career. We all wish you well on your future endeavors. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I love you, daddy.”

Facebook footage of the exchange has been viewed more than 498,000 times and has amassed nearly 5,000 shares. Austin has joined the Hamilton County office as the chief deputy.

Chattanooga police shared the video on the department’s Facebook page, sending well wishes to Austin.

“After 25 years of service to the Chattanooga community, Austin L. Garrett signed off for the final time as a Chattanooga Police Officer on Friday,” officials wrote alongside the video.

“Austin’s daughter, Haley, was the Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District Dispatcher on the other end of that emotional call. The Chattanooga PD thanks Lt. Garrett for his dedication, leadership, and service and may the best of the past be the worst of his future.”

Haley was at Austin’s side along with the rest of their family when he was sworn in as chief deputy. Photos of the ceremony shared on Facebook showed the family smiling. Social media users praised Austin in several Facebook posts as the video spread across the Internet, with one calling him ” a great man.”

Another wrote: “One of my best buddies Austin L. Garrett is retiring from the Chattanooga Police Department and his sweet daughter Allison Haley Garrett, (that we all love and adore), took his final radio call. If you watch this and don’t cry, we can’t be friends anymore.”
