West Elm is Partnering with Rent the Runway: Would You Rent Short-Term Home Decor?
The clothing rental service is teaming up with the popular home retailer to rent decor for fickle design lovers
Would you rent your home decor instead of buying it?
Rent the Runway is a convenient and affordable option for fashionistas who want to rent designer clothing at a fraction of the purchase prices. Now West Elm is teaming up with the innovative company to apply the same practice to their coveted home decor.
On Thursday, the two companies announced that select bundles of West Elm’s decorative pillows, throws, shams, quilts and coverlets would be available to rent short term starting in early June.
The home decor will be available through Rent the Runway subscriptions. The company’s two subscription plans currently cost $89/month and $159/month.
“This is a monumental moment for Rent the Runway and the sharing economy as a whole,” Jennifer Hyman, CEO of Rent the Runway, said in a statement. “We know that clothing is often a vehicle to help people feel confident and expressive, and this new partnership will unlock that feeling through home decor,”
There will be 26 different bundles of West Elm decor available on Rent the Runway — from bedroom bundles, which include a quilt, coverlet, blanket shams and decorative pillows, to living room bundles, which include decorative pillows and a throw blanket.
Rent the Runway subscribers will be able to keep the bundles for any period of time that they’d like.
“We are making it easier than ever for customers to discover great design for their spaces,” said Alex Bellos, president of West Elm. “Each of our 26 curated home bundles encourage subscribers to translate their playful and bold style to decorating, and allow them to experience West Elm’s original, modern products from the comforts of home.”
