Suzanne Somers Opens Her Malibu Beach House, 10 Years After Fire Devastated Her Former Home
The Three's Company star gives PEOPLE a tour of the retreat she shares with husband Alan Hamel
“I don’t have a lot of stuff,” says Suzanne Somers of her minimalist Malibu beach house. But the things the Three’s Company star does keep are equal parts sentimental and sexy.
“This is called Big Al’s bar,” she explains, while giving PEOPLE an exclusive tour of the entertaining area in the abode she shares with her husband of almost 40 years, Alan Hamel. Pointing out a favorite photo of Hamel, she says, “Whenever I see that picture of him, it makes me want to have sex with him.” She adds with a laugh, “There’s something about the way he holds a cigar that turns me on.”
Their passionate relationship is the focus of Somers’ new book, Two’s Company: A Fifty-Year Romance with Lessons Learned in Love, Life & Business.
The couple meet at their home bar ‘four to five times a week. And we have never more than two drinks, except they’re big ones,” Somers jokes.
The “heavenly” oceanfront location is the actress’s favorite feature of the property. “How can you not be happy?” she says. She adds, “It took a long time since our house burned down to get back on the water,” referencing the wildfire that destroyed four houses in Malibu, including her own, in 2007.
Admiring the expansive Pacific views before joining her husband in a sun bed, she says, “I can’t get over it. It’s such a gift. There’s just a lot of nature and light and beauty and I love my life.”
