A ball pit, surprise disco lights and plenty of ponies lie inside
Basketball is great. But for Steph Curry, ball pit is life.
The Golden State Warriors’ star point guard and his family, including wife, Ayesha, and daughters, Riley and Ryan, are the first celebs to appear on TLC’s new series Playhouse Masters, which premieres tonight at 10p.m. EST .
“Having a place for my two daughters to let their imaginations live is a very rewarding experience and will be part of our family for a while,” Steph tells PEOPLE exclusively.
In an exclusive clip from the premiere, hosts Tyson and Audy Leavitt of Charmed Playhouses, tackle Riley’s request for a pony-themed space and mom Ayesha’s over-the-top wish for a built-in ball pit. But come reveal time, it’s the NBA MVP who seems to be having the most fun in the pint-sized playroom, complete with disco lights.
“Oh my goodness! Oh shoot,” says notoriously even-keeled Curry before doing a “trust fall” into the sea of colorful balls. To be fair, Ayesha lets out a full-on squeal of joy at the sight and a clearly fearless Riley does a cannon ball into the pile.
“Riley’s night club,” Steph exclaims, as the lights start to blink in different colors. He seems to have no issue breaching embarrassing dad territory off the court. (He recently broke into “The Carlton” alongside Justin Timberlake and Alfonso Ribeiro at a golf tournament.)
Riley is beyond pleased with her new domain taking in details that include plenty of pony-themed decor, a slide from the second floor loft and, in a sentimental moment, dad and daughter-size cowboy hats.
In addition to the Curry’s, the first season’s celeb lineup includes Ali Landry, whose kids dream of hanging out in a fantasy birdhouse, Law & Order‘s Alana de la Garza, whose youngsters go for a brainy planetarium theme and Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals, whose daughter dreams of a classic storybook castle.
Playhouse Masters premieres tonight, August 23, at 10:00/9c on TLC.
