Jason Oppenheim looks at the best L.A. real estate all day as his job, so it's no surprise that his newest personal purchase - a $5.125 million estate in the Hollywood Hills - is just as luxurious as the homes viewers see on Selling Sunset.

The Netflix star and founder/president of the Oppenheim Group, 43, tells PEOPLE exclusively that he wasn't planning on moving, but "I'm always looking for special properties, and when I saw this house I just fell in love with it."

The real estate expert says he snagged the four-bedroom, four-bathroom home in an off-market deal after finding that it "checks so many important boxes that I look for in a property."

For example, he says, "it's well located in the Hollywood Hills; it's private and gated; it offers great interior scale with 20-foot-high ceilings; there is an enormous flat, grassy yard with a nice pool; and it has tremendous views of the entire city."

The 4,874-square-foot property was built by Avengers actor Jeremy Renner in 2008, the Los Angeles Times reports, and property records show that he sold the property in 2013. The home was last listed for $6.295 million over the summer before being taken down in September, so Oppenheim received a significant discount in the deal.

The Times also reports that this is the fifth property in the Hollywood Hills that Oppenheim has purchased in the past five years. His previous homes have been featured on Selling Sunset, as he often hosts his coworkers-turned-costars, including agents Chrishell Stause, Heather Rae Young, Christine Quinn, Mary Fitzgerald, Davina Portraz, Maya Vander and Amanza Smith.

The new home is also perfect for entertaining. Visitors enter through a courtyard that leads to a two-story great room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the backyard. Outside, a solar-heated, saltwater pool joins a spa, cabana and firepit, with space to dine al fresco.

The views of the city are perhaps the most exquisite part of the home, with downtown L.A. and the Pacific Ocean all in sight.

The master suite boasts impressive, 180-degree views of the city, as well as a double-sided fireplace, walk-in closet and spacious bathroom. The home also has a theatre room, office, chef's kitchen, and an additional master bedroom downstairs.

Though he says his past home felt secure, Oppenheim is thrilled about the privacy this new place affords. "I do certainly value privacy more after the show," he says.

The broker has been involved with Selling Sunset from day one, as the show followed him, his twin brother, Brett Oppenheim; and their team of real estate agents as they attempt to sell some of L.A.'s most lavish properties.

In August, PEOPLE reported that Brett had left the family business to branch out on his own.

The same month, Jason defended himself and his business against claims that the women on the show aren't actually practicing real estate agents, telling PEOPLE, "Any insinuation that the agents on our show are not experienced, successful, or licensed, evidences a complete disregard for the facts."

He continued: "Even a superficial investigation would identify previous team photos, hundreds of millions in transacted sales, and more than 50 years of combined licensed real estate experience from these agents."

Seasons 1-3 of Selling Sunset are currently streaming on Netflix.
