WATCH: New' Real Housewives of Dallas' Cast Member D'Andra Simmons Gives a Tour of Her 'African Safari Lodge' Home

"We wanted to come home and feel like we're on vacation," she says.

She may be a born-and-raised Texan, but stepping into D’Andra Simmons’ Dallas house is like visiting an exotic land.

“I designed it to be like an African safari lodge because African safari is our favorite vacation in the world,” The Real Housewives of Dallas newcomer says. “We wanted to come home and feel like we’re on vacation.”

Most of the photos in the house are by her husband Jeremy, a travel photographer. The decorative masks and decor items were all collected during their extensive travels.

“My friends call me Miss United Nations because I’ve been all over the world,” she says. “My husband has as well and we bring back a lot of things.”

Similar to her fellow new castmate, Kameron Westcott, Simmons also has a disappearing glass wall off of the living room that opens up to her backyard. “It looks like it’s a much larger house,” she explains of the feature.

As “one of the only housewives that actually can cook,” Simmons felt it necessary to outfit her kitchen with two islands, double convection ovens and a steam oven. The open floor plan plays to her love for entertaining, with the dining room conveniently located just outside her cooking space.

Her master bedroom boasts the most unique (and challenging) feature in the house.

“It was a gate from a Tibetan Buddhist temple,” she says of the couple’s massive headboard. “The funny thing about this particular piece is it was too big to get up the stairs. It was too big to go over the balcony. So we had to take it apart and glue it back together.”

And while they survived the struggle, Simmons adds, “I don’t think we can ever, ever move.”
