Inside Olympian Lindsey Vonn's Mountain Haven in Colorado: 'It's a Hidden Gem'
An Olympian at Home
Even before you set foot inside Lindsey Vonn's cozy mountainside home in Vail, Colo., there's a not-so-little clue about who lives there that's nestled on the front lawn: A freestanding two-person ski-lift chair that pays homage to her Olympic career.
A wooden bear greets visitors, but real bears have also been spotted nearby the Olympic skier's hideaway tucked into the Gore Range.
Home at First Sight
"When I walked in for the first time, I said, 'This is it! This is my house,'" says Vonn, 32, who snapped up the five-bedroom "mountain contemporary" home—the first she's ever owned—after seeing it two years ago.
World Cup title globes are on display in the double-height living room, where much of Vonn's furniture is from Restoration Hardware.
Light and Bright
The dining room, appointed with contemporary pieces, also benefits from the soaring ceilings and abundant light.
Vonn had a custom built-in created to house her many awards and personal mementos gathered over her career.
Her Olympic medals sit near childhood trophies. "They all remind me of everything I've done in my life," she says.
