Megyn Kelly is used to swimming with sharks, but this week, she got up close and personal with some friendlier fish.

The soon-to-be NBC anchor, 46, was spotted snorkeling while vacationing in Hawaii on Wednesday. She arrived to a rocky cove in colorful swim leggings, a straw hat and a bikini top, and toted a bright green diving mask and snorkel, and a pair of flippers.

Kelly’s husband, novelist Douglas Brunt, also joined her on the outing. The pair were photographed getting their bearings in the shallow water before diving in.

The TV journalist has been taking advantage of some down time after departing Fox News, where she hosted The Kelly File, in January. PEOPLE previously confirmed that Kelly will take on three new roles at NBC: anchoring in-depth Sunday night news show, taking part in the network’s special political programming, and taking over an hour of the Today Show. She will take on either the third hour, currently hosted by Tamron Hall and Al Roker or Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb‘s 10:00 a.m. slot.

According to a source, if Kelly takes over the fourth hour, Gifford, 63, and Kotb, 52, will be bumped up to the 9:00 a.m. slot. Hall, 46, and Roker, 62, will no longer be co-hosting an hour together.

NBC has not yet confirmed when Kelly will start.
