It’s no secret that Kourtney Kardashian is an interior design buff. But her eccentric method for selecting fabrics is certainly news.

“Kourtney is actually very allergic, she hates anything that’s too rough,” Martyn Lawrence Bullard, interior designer and decorating guru to the Kardashians, said in a new video released on Kourtney’s website. “She’s the only person that does the most hilarious fabric tests. She’ll get a piece of the fabric and rub it all over her face and then rub it on her neck to see if she’ll be allergic to it.”

In addition to Kourtney’s, 37, specific fabric needs, Bullard also details the essentials she requested for a welcoming yet chic kitchen and family room. Top of the list, of course, was a space suited for keeping up with the other Kardashians.

“Kourtney’s house, there’s always, Kim and Khloé and whoever — everyone’s always in the kitchen,” Bullard, 49, said. “So it was important that the kitchen be a comfortable space, and still make it a very stylish space.”

Bullard checked those boxes by including expansive islands, textured wallpaper made from woven straw and recycled glass barstools.

“There’s something sort of organic and cool about them,” Bullard said of the stools. “I know Kourtney is very passionate about being organic and being very planet-friendly.”

Just off the kitchen is the family room with a huge sofa — perfect for lounging with her three children, Mason, 6, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 1.

“We decided to do a big L-shape sectional, where everybody could mound on the sofa and watch TV,” Bullard said.

With a couch like that, it’s hard to believe they do anything else!
