Kacey Musgraves’ Pink Living Room Makeover

It's new year, new living room for Kacey Musgraves! The 28-year-old country singer/songwriter, who recently got engaged to musician Ruston Kelly, teamed up with the lifestyle blog A Beautiful Mess (ABM) to give the living space in her Nashville home a makeover, and the results are perfectly pretty in pink.

Elsie Larson, half of the two-sister team behind ABM, first encountered Musgraves on Instagram after she noticed the singer defending her against cyber bullies: “It was basically just a bunch of people critiquing my appearance (always fun!),” Larson writes in a post on her site. “And then I saw a comment from Kacey, defending me! I think what it said was, ‘little people belittle people.’”

The Dream Team

Although they didn’t meet in person until years later, Larson says, “From that moment forward, I knew I wanted to be her friend, because any woman who takes on another woman's Internet trolls is an instant friend in my book!”

The two finally connected for a craft day in 2016 and, Larson writes, “After hanging out for, like, five minutes, she invited me to help her decorate her new Nashville home.”

Country Chic

In Musgraves' charming Music City home, Larson brought together rustic touches like a wooden coffee table from Joss&Main and a (homemade!) tapestry, which serve as a nod to the singer's country roots. While built-in bookshelves, gilded accessories and plenty of plants keep the space feeling modern and fresh.

Pretty in Pink

The centerpiece of the room is a bubblegum pink sofa from Article. “It cannot be overstated how much I love this sofa,” Larson writes. A brass chandelier above the statement piece adds an extra dose of elegance to the spirited setup.

Star Power

A photo of iconic country singer Loretta Lynn giving Musgraves a sweet smooch on the cheek is the centerpiece of one of the built-in bookcases that flank the fireplace.

Put a Record On

A corner record station serves as a stylish spot to store (and show off!) Musgraves’ collection. Larson customized the U-Turn Audio turntable with gold cacti for, “a subtle, but fun, personalization.”

Award-Winning Displays

Colorful cacti and an old-school radio are a few of the decorative items found on Musgraves’ bookshelves, but there’s one collectible that stands out from the rest: the singer’s Grammy Award for Best Country Album for “Same Trailer Different Park.”
