At Home with Toast
It's tough to be Toast. The Instagram-famous King Charles Spaniel with an ever-present tongue models for Karen Walker eyewear, travels the world, writes books and even had her wedding featured on the Real Housewives of New York. So it should come as no surprise that the puppy mill rescue needs a cozy and stylish pied-a-terre in which she and her adoptive sisters, Pants and Muppet, can recover from their jetset lifestyle. Luckily, her human mom, The 12ish Style blogger Katie Sturino, called on online decorating service Homepolish, to deck out their NYC pad in chic (and mostly dog-friendly) decor worthy of the its A-list inhabitants.

Front and Center
"There is a thin line between chic, Pop dog art and crazy dog lady so I had to make sure that I kept a balance," says Sturino of the homage to her three dogs in the entry. (The real Muppet poses below her portrait.) "The artwork by Lark + Raven sets the tone for the apartment without being creepy."

A Dog-Friendly Entrance
Homepolish designer Tina Rich, also ensured that the small apartment had a smart use of space that accommodated family members, both two– and four-legged. "For Katie, we made sure she had a large basket at the entry for dog coats, leashes, etc," she says. "I also love the idea of having a canister on an entry table with dog treats for when you’re returning from a walk."

Sitting Pretty
Toast and her pampered siblings are "not allowed on the couch, based on principal alone because they have so much of their own seating in the apartment," says Sturino. Though she admits, she does occasionally make an exception: The Joss & Main sofa "is the best to watch a Ryan Reynolds movie together all curled up. Although Muppet is more of a Chris Pratt girl," she explains.

Style Underpaw
The living room's hardwood floors are both pretty and practical. "Hard-surface flooring like tile and wood are your best bet with pets," says Rich. "They can be easily cleaned and don’t hold odors."

Getting Down and Sturdy
Rich made a special effort to avoid including easily damaged pieces in the design. "Fragile items like ceramics or glass pieces at tail level" are a recipe for disaster, she says. "A happy dog can wreak havoc."

A Seat at the Table
From left, Toast, Muppet and Pants, await treats at the dining table. "There was no mistake on who the masters of the house are!" says Rich of the blended family's dynamic.

Cuddle Puddle Central
The pups' favorite spot is one intended for humans, of course. Though Pants is photographed in the place of honor here, Sturino says Toast also "loves my bed. It is a king and she likes to take up half of it with her 17-pound body!"

People Problems
Sturino admits she made one not-so-dog-friendly choice in the master bedroom: "My bedding is Serena and Lily and it is white—not the best choice for three drooling pups, but it is so chic!"
