Back that brass up!

Using brass décor is a super-simple way to add a glamorous touch to your dining table without a hefty price tag. But when dingy and dirty, it’s an even easier way to unintentionally cheapen your favorite bookshelf or tabletop. Luckily, with a little lemon and a pinch of baking soda, you can return your favorite accent pieces to their original gleaming state.

First, squeeze the juice out of half of a lemon, and pour it into a bowl. Mix in a teaspoon of baking soda and watch the concoction fizzle. Dab a clean cloth into the mixture, and rub in a circular motion over your brass piece to remove residue and reveal a like-new surface.

Place your favorite dish, bookend or paperweight back on display for a luxe look, minus the grime.
