Forget the Fixer Upper! Chip and Joanna Gaines Agree to Build a Brand New House for Waco Couple
Chip and Joanna Gaines's Brand-New Build
Nancy and Dale Pahmiyer had their hearts set on the true Fixer Upper experience. But finding a work-in-progress house in their ideal neighborhood that also came with room for their grandchildren and a picture-perfect view proved a little too tricky. Lucky for them, Chip and Joanna Gaines had a surprise up their sleeve.
Old Meets New
Still dedicated to designing the home of the couple’s dreams, Chip and Jo suggested the couple purchase a $35,000 lot and build a new home from the ground up. As Chip says, "Not everybody's built for the fixer-upper model." The results? A stucco-covered stunner that still incorporates a little old-school charm.
Room to Move
The Pahmiyer’s moved to Waco, Texas, five years ago to be closer to their family. But their duplex left much to be desired when it came to actually entertaining their growing clan. Their new home's open floor plan provides a seamless flow between spaces so the group can move from room to room without feeling crowded.
Two separate islands that can serve as breakfast bars combined with plenty of mint-green cabinetry makes this kitchen as functional as it is pretty. The Gaineses also built in vaulted ceilings to achieve Nancy’s dream of an open and airy room.
Room with a View
The master suite gets the true Fixer Upper touch with whitewashed ceiling beams, an iron bed and French doors that open up to the Pahmiyer’s backyard.
