Drew Scott Was Once Tom Welling's Butt Double on Smallville: 'A Little Side Thing'
As a struggling actor early in his career, Drew Scott landed a role on the CW show Smallville. And while it didn't exactly show off his acting chops, it did put some other assets on display.
"I was the body double for Tom Welling," Scott, 42, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "So when they’re doing like butt shots and ab shots, I was the one they were using."
"It was great. It was a little side thing," he continues, explaining, "I was pursuing acting back in the day and between gigs a friend of mine who was the stand-in for the character Lex Luther, said, 'Hey we need a fill to do some stand-in and some photo doubling for Superman,' and I’m like, 'And you’re looking at me?' So that was just a fun gig I did a little bit of."
The Smallville set was also the first place Scott met one of the stars who will appear on the upcoming second season of his latest HGTV show, Celebrity IOU: Justin Hartley.

"Something a lot of people don’t know is I have actually known Justin for years," he says. "Back then he was Green Arrow, I think. Maybe Justin and I bonded over our superhero days."
On IOU, stars give back to someone who has shaped their life or career by surprising them with a home makeover courtesy of Drew and his twin brother and co-star Jonathan.
Hartley will give one of his closest friends, Mat, a backyard overhaul. Over their 10-year friendship, the This Is Us star says Mat has been "the rock that saved him in rough times," according to a summary from HGTV. (Hartley's episode will air on December 28 at 9 pm.)
Season 2 of Celebrity IOU premieres on HGTV December 14 at 9PM ET/PT.
