Here's What the Disney Princesses' Homes Would Look Like Now
Belle, Beauty and the Beast
Modsy imagined a luxurious living room for the heroine of Beauty and the Beast. The space is arranged around a classic velvet yellow sofa—the same color as Belle's iconic gown from her dance with the Beast. Other notable accents in the room are the fresh flowers (a nod to the story's magical rose) and a glamorous chandelier worthy of a ballroom. The ornately carved furnishings are French in style. And the foot stool and armoire in particular look poised to spring to life as Sultan the dog and Madame de la Grande Bouche.
This princess's elegant yet modern room features whimsical bird accents — and tribute to her feathered friends — andhidden elements like some sparkly heels, a tiara, horse bookends and an alarm clock to represent the moment from the movie when the clock strikes midnight. The room is anchored with a regal blue sofa (Cinderella's favorite hue), a brass bookcase, and tulip chairs.
Modsy imagines this warrior-princess would have a minimal, Mid-Century living area. A vibrant red patterned rug anchors the space, which also features a dragon sculpture that pays tribute to Mulan's sidekick Mushu in the corner of the room. The abstract artwork is even remiscent of the snowy mountains where the movie's battle takes place.
Snow White would be the modern-day equivalent of Joanna Gaines, according to Modsy, meaning her bedroom would feature rustic, neutral pieces. Almost every piece ties in to Snow White's love for the natural world and animals, including a canopy bed with woodland posts, a floral patterned rugs and a dresser decorated with a relief of a deer. Geodes on the dresser are an homage to the seven dwarves mining for gems.
This island girl likely would have lived in a laid-back tropical oasis, according to Modsy. They painted her walls a bright turqouise, and added a natural palm basket alongside a braided floor cushion and rattan room dividers to give the space a tropical vibe. To recreate this youthful look, Modsy recommends looking for bohemian-inspired pieces with tassels, mixed woods, or anything with bold teal or ocean-inspired colors.
For this snow queen, Modsy created a sophisticated winter wonderland with a navy and white color scheme. A hand-embossed bed anchors the room, and for those who just can't "Let It Go," the space is accented with a printed pillow, an Olaf mug, snowman decor and a faux antler pendant light. For those inspired by this scene, Modsy recommends incorporating faux furs, acrylic pieces and mirrored surfaces.
