Country music star Cam, 32, has had an action-packed few years. After co-writing a hit song for Miley Cyrus and nabbing a Grammy nod in 2016 for her hit “Burning House,” she embarked on a tour of the same name, all while planning her wedding to commercial real estate agent Adam Weaver, whom she married last October. But her hectic schedule kept her from tending to her home life, specifically when it came to decorating her Nashville house. “Cam and Adam have a great style,” says Wayfair Style Director Donna Garlough, “but their schedules didn’t leave them with a lot of time to complete their decor.”

A little push from the affordable decorating site and a focus on what would best bring out her bright personality helped the singer-songwriter transform the home into an ideal off-duty retreat. Now, Cam says, “I love coming home to just my husband and our dogs. It helps me recharge for the road again.”

In the newly decorated “hangout room,” Cam (who tells PEOPLE she forgoes using her last name, Ochs, because it’s too complicated to pronounce) enjoys a calming color palette, rustic elements and a navy sectional. “Being on the road so much, it just feels so great to go home and unwind,” she says.

Their artwork pays tribute to the couple's home state:“I really wanted to incorporate pieces of California into the design, since my husband and I are both from there and we were married there,” she says.

Although yellow is the singer’s signature color because, she says, “I find that I feel happier and am in a better mood when I’m wearing yellow,” you won’t find much of it in her master bedroom. “I definitely wanted pieces of yellow, but not for it to be an overwhelming amount,” she says.

Cam's choice item in her boudoir is underfoot: “My favorite part about my bedroom is the rug,” she says. A mounted deer head captures her down-home aesthetic while a midcentury nightstand and upholstered bed reflect a more modern-Scandinavian design preference.

Creative Corner

A corner nook in the bedroom complete with her guitar and a leather chair makes for a cozy spot to write songs, as her basic requirements for the task include, “somewhere that I feel comfortable and at peace.”
