Inside Christina El Moussa and Ant Anstead's Suprise Wedding
Christina El Moussa and Ant Anstead are married! The couple tied the knot in a secret “winter wonderland” wedding at their home in Newport Beach, California, on Dec. 22.
“We pulled off the perfect surprise wedding,” El Moussa tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Seeing the happy tears of friends and family was priceless.”
A Family Affair
The couple wanted to make sure their blended family was a part of the ceremony. El Moussa, 35, shares son Brayden, 3, and daughter Taylor, 8, with her ex-husband Tarek, while Anstead, 39, has daughter Amelie, 15, and son Archie, 12, from a previous marriage.
“It’s the six of us,” says Anstead. “So it was really important for them to be a part of it.” Taylor was the flower girl, Archie was the ring bearer, and Amelie walked with Brayden down the aisle.
'I Do' Details
In order to keep their hush-hush wedding a secret, the couple invited 70 of their friends and family members over to their house, telling them they were going to watch a boat parade. But when the guests arrived, they saw rows of white chairs neatly arranged in the front yard, rose petals leading to an elegant floral arch, and an elegant tent in the backyard with a table for a steak dinner.
Anstead, slipped into place next to the pastor, cheekily quipping “Got ya!” to the crowd. Once El Moussa made her way down the aisle and joined her husband-to-be, she exclaimed, “Surprise! We’re getting married!”
Dressed to Impress
The couple couldn’t say “I do” without their French bulldog, Cash, who wore a custom tuxedo for his walk down the aisle.
Following their nuptials, the HGTV designer and her vintage car enthusiast groom rode off in a 1955 Rolls-Royce that read “Just Married” on the windshield.
El Moussa, who will be changing her last name to Anstead, and the Wheeler Dealers host began dating in October 2017. “Two weeks after our first date, I was at a hockey game with my dad and I told him, ‘I’m going to marry Ant,’ ” says El Moussa. “When you know, you know.”
A Romantic Look
El Moussa’s Ines Di Santo dress featured a low back with buttons and detachable sleeves. She paired the mermaid-style gown, which she calls “classic and beautiful,” with Sergio Rossi crystal puzzle heels. The couple’s rings were designed by Randall Scott Fine Jewelry, with her emerald-cut eternity band totaling 8.5 carats.
An Elegant Bouquet
While walking down the aisle to the song “Stand By Me,” El Moussa carried a bouquet of pale pink and white peonies to compliment her wedding look.
Anstead chose all the desserts, including their “naked” three-tiered white wedding cake with strawberries and cream from Sweet & Saucy Shop. “Ant picked all the desserts. That was all him,” El Moussa says. “Desserts are really important [to him].”
