Here's Your First Look at Chip and Joanna Gaines' New Magazine, The Magnolia Journal
Chip and Joanna Gaines’ new lifestyle magazine, The Magnolia Journal, is about to make its debut, and the first look at Joanna’s “Cup of Jo” column proves the star of HGTV’s Fixer Upper is just as obsessed with pumpkin spice latte season as the rest of us.
“It’s always such a thrill for me to step outside on that first crip morning after what felt like an endless summer,” Joanna writes. “It feels as though these seasons were tailor-made for the stuff I enjoy most: all things warm and cozy, focused gratitude, extended time with family and friends, hosting meals and parties, and of course, exchanging gifts.”
But also like many of us, she admits that she can get a little caught up in what’s to come, and “by midway through I’m ready for the next thing.”

“Hospitality” is the theme of the first issue of The Magnolia Journal, so it’s natural for Joanna to have upcoming seasonal to-dos on the brain, even though she encourages herself and readers to “relish this stage of life.”
Although she and husband, Chip, keep their schedules packed with filming their HGTV show, managing their Magnolia Market store and vacation rental and keeping up with a variety of home lines, the time they spend with their four children still ranks at the top of the list.
“Whether it’s sharing what we are thankful for around our Thanksgiving table or cuddling up on the couch: Chip and I with the kids and six cups of cocoa (with extra marshmallows!). We love to just lie there and gaze up in awe at our Christmas tree, each year convinced it’s the prettiest tree ever,” she says in the column. “These are such small things, but they mean everything to me.”
In addition to sharing inside her favorite family traditions, the first issue of the quarterly magazine includes Joanna’s seasonal favorites, entertaining tips, recipes and more.
