Chip and Joanna Gaines Open Up about Filming 'Fixer Upper' with Their Four Young Kids

These flashbacks of the Gaines kids throughout the years is seriously cute

For Chip and Joanna Gaines, family always comes first.

The Fixer Upper stars broke fans’ hearts when they announced in September that the fifth season of their hit HGTV show would be their last in order to spend more time with their four kids, Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 7 (and baby number five on the way!)

“They’re so young, and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood,” Joanna told PEOPLE. “Family is the most important thing in the world.”

In Tuesday night’s special episode, “How We Got Here,” the famous parents reflected on all of the memories they’ve shared with their children throughout their run on reality TV.

“It is crazy when I look at these kids, they’re growing so fast,” Joanna says in the clip above. “So for us, whether it’s just ice cream or playing games, we gotta make those moments count.”

The episode is filled with memories, from a tiny Emmie Kay jumping into her dad’s arms to a young Duke feeding the family’s cow, Licorice. Scenes featuring the little ones helping out on set throughout the years also melted hearts. “It’s fun to watch the fruit of your labor,” says Joanna.

Chip adds, “It seems like there’s never a dull moment. I don’t think a lot of people get to say, ‘I get to take the kids to work.’”

Of course, there are plenty of hilarious moments in the mix as well. Chip attempting — and failing — to juggle eggs in the kitchen of their farmhouse and the whole gang playing basketball, will make fans miss Chip and Jo’s antics already (even though they aren’t leaving quite yet).
