Lily James Stuck to a Liquid Diet for Her 'Cinderella' Corset

The actress revealed the harsh realities of wearing a corseted ballgown in the new Disney remake

Even all dolled up as Cinderella, Lily James couldn’t exactly dine like a princess.

The actress – who stars in the live-action remake of the fairytale classic – found herself in a bit of a tight situation: The signature blue Cinderella ball gown had a constricting corset, which made eating a challenge.

“When [the corset] was on we would be on continuous days, so we wouldn’t stop for lunch or a lovely tea like this. You’d be sort of eating on the move. In that case, I couldn’t untie the corset,” the 25-year-old Brit told E! News.

And if she did attempt to consume solid food, the result was far from princess-like.

“If you ate food it didn’t really digest properly, and I’d be burping all afternoon in [Richard Madden]’s face, and it was just really sort of unpleasant. I’d have soup so that I could still eat but it wouldn’t get stuck,” she said.

Thankfully, the corseted gown was only used for a small part of filming in the new Disney film, which hits theaters March 13.

And although the corseted-waist look has turned into a fashion fad, the actress – who said she’s naturally slender – is not a fan.

“I think it’s so important to be healthy and confident and natural and not put too much stress on trying to be thin,” she told the news outlet. “I don’t get the thin, thin thing at all. It doesn’t make any sense to me.”
