Kim Kardashian West is working on dropping 2 lbs. a week on the Atkins diet.

Her Atkins nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, told Extra Tuesday that Kardashian West’s diet plan sets her up to lose 2 lbs. a week.

“We can pace the weight loss at 2 lbs. a week, so that it won’t affect her breast milk and she gets adequate protein from chicken, fish and some meat,” Heimowitz explains.

The reality star, 35, announced Jan. 19 that she’s going back on the Atkins diet once again after the birth of her son, Saint, on Dec. 5.

“I’m so excited!” she tweeted. “I’m 30 lbs down today but 40 to go! I’m so focused.”

Kardashian West said she packed on 60 lbs. during her pregnancy (to the dismay of mom Kris Jenner), and she’s working on dropping back down to her pre-baby weight of 130 lbs.

To get there, Kardashian West is following the Atkins 40 program, which allows her more carbohydrates to restore her energy while she’s breastfeeding Saint. Along with the mostly protein-and-vegetable-heavy diet, Heimowitz says Kardashian West can nosh on low glycemic fruits like berries, and get healthy fats from Greek yogurt, small portions of cheese, and nuts and olive oil.

“On Atkins you can take in more calories than you would on a typical low calorie diet and lose actually more weight,” Heimowitz says.

Along with the diet, Kardashian West is hitting the gym hard, which Heimowitz says will help the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star lose inches quickly, though it will take some time to hit her goal weight.

“She’s also exercising, so she’ll sculpt her body with a personal trainer and lose 40 lbs. of fat with us, and if it’s two to 3 lbs. a week it will take a couple months.”

Still, Heimowitz has plenty of faith in Kardashian West.

“She’s smart and she’s motivated and she’s committed,” Heimowitz says.
