Jessica Alba is standing by her product, despite the recent controversy over the effectiveness of The Honest Company’s SPF 30 sunscreen lotion.

Some users of the sunscreen have shared photos of their sunburns online, claiming the product is ineffective. The Honest Company released a response to PEOPLE defending the sunscreen lotion, and now Alba, 34, is personally responding to dissatisfied consumers in a blog post she authored along with the company’s co-founder Christopher Gavigan.

“Protecting our loved ones and yours is the reason we founded The Honest Company,” reads the post. “As parents, it pains us to hear that anyone has had a negative experience with our Sunscreen. We develop and use Honest Sunscreen to protect our own children – Honor, Haven, Luke, Evie, and Poppy – at the park, in the pool, outside, every day. As with everything we do, we take sun protection seriously here at Honest.”

The post added that the current sunscreen is actually an improvement on a previous formulation that was less water resistant and more difficult to apply.

It also assures customers that the sunscreen has been tested in accordance with government regulations and received the best score possible from the Environmental Working Group.

“We care about taking every precaution possible to ensure that your product experience will keep you healthy and happy,” reads the post.

“That said, what matters most to us is your trust and confidence. We’re passionate about living up to your expectations as much as our own. We’ve personally picked up the phone to speak with many of you who have called our customer service hotline. Our team is reaching out to everyone who has posted on social media to assure you that we’re committed to your safety and satisfaction.”

Alba and Gavigan encourage anyone else who has concerns about the sunscreen lotion to reach out to The Honest Company’s customer service line.

“As always, we’ll do what it takes to make it right,” concludes the post. Alba also posted part of the message on Instagram.
