It’s a great day for proud nursing mothers everywhere.

Following a backlash from users and celebrities like Alyssa Milano, Instagram announced on Friday that it will no longer censor breastfeeding photos.

The social media platform clarified in its updated community guidelines that “photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed.”

However, the photo-sharing site is largely sticking to its strict guidelines on nudity, explaining, “We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram. This includes photos, videos and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks.”

Stars including Milano, Jaime King, Gisele Bündchen and Doutzen Kroes have proudly posted photos of themselves nursing their children in the past, and both Milano and Kroes have been vocal about promoting breastfeeding.

On April 5, the Victoria’s Secret model shared a black-and-white picture of herself pumping breast milk, writing, “Daily routine! I’m promoting breastfeeding, it’s the best for your baby when possible! #breastfeeding #breastpump #breastfeedingmom #breastfeedingawareness.”

Milano has posted photos of herself breastfeeding her 7-month-old daughter, Elizabella Dylan, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – and faced criticism from users on each platform.

“I got really sad about it,” she said of the backlash on The Talk in December 2014. “Because who are we, that now we get upset as human beings if we see a woman feeding her baby? It’s crazy to me. Crazy, crazy, crazy.”

“I just think, ‘Where are we that this has now become offensive?’ So not only is it beautiful, but it’s also a necessity. I’m feeding my kid.”
