Since her weight loss, the genetic toxicology research assistant and mom of two, 33, has coached people all over the country on how to lose weight, helping them drop a combined 2,950 lbs. Guzman recently competed in a figure competition, and will be sharing the next phase of her journey in an exclusive PEOPLE blog. You can also follow her on Instagram. We are two months post-show now! A lot has changed and some things have stayed the same. The love and support I got during my prep has remained consistent. My clients, friends and family are waiting to hear the announcement of my next contest date. People treat me differently now. Many were proud of me for reaching the “half my size” mark, but I feel like respect has gone through the roof since achieving my goal of going from fat to figure competitor. (Yes, I said “fat!”) I have been admired for the intensity of my commitment to my schedule, nutrition plan, my physique changes and newfound athletic ability. I have always put 120 percent into everything I do, but fitness and nutrition were never things that came naturally to me. I poured my heart and soul into this journey. I have to pinch myself when I see or hear others call me “athlete” or “competitor.” I didn’t think I would be one of those people who would hold a torch for others. I didn’t get paid to compete, I don’t get paid to write my blogs, I don’t make a fortune coaching others – but let me tell you, the love and respect I received and the hope and courage I gave others will never have a price tag. I created a reverse diet for myself and have gained 4 lbs. since my second show, putting my current total loss at 151 lbs. I am in carb heaven now, no longer in a depletion stage. I am still pretty lean, and my abs are starting to disappear, but I have made some muscle and strength gains. During the reverse diet and “growing season,” my goal is to put on muscle mass as I leave the caloric deficit behind. I am following a macro-based plan and using Herbalife nutrition products just as I did during prep, just eating more – and I can’t complain about that! I eat more carbs daily and have one or two treat meals per week to have balance, but I do not completely binge on things. I’ve added back coffee creamer, larger amounts of bread, rice and potatoes, and an occasional donut here and there that I gave up during the 20-week prep. Yes, I have become an official donut addict! Muscles need carbs, and mine prefer donuts! I’m very happy right now. The change in diet has given me my mental focus back; the last few weeks of my prep were rough on a low-carb plan. I have increased my strength and endurance. I have cut cardio down significantly, and I lift five to size days per week, only one day less a week than I did on prep. I am lifting heavier weights and have more energy to teach fit camps to our group fitness and nutrition clients. I love providing our coaches and clients with the vision I saw for myself. Coaching them gives me a daily reminder of where I have come from, and where I am going.
