The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills star, 22, added that he’s thankful he had the surgery last year. “It was a tool,” he explained. “And I think that it was something that really helped me jumpstart the life I definitely wanted to lead.

“I wanted to be the best me I can be and that’s always something I wanted to do,” he continued. “It’s something that I struggled with and I needed that push in the right direction. And now my mindset is completely changed.”

In October, EJ told PEOPLE that he was excited to take control of his life in the wake of the surgery.”

He continued, “Being able to take control of my life again, take control of what I’m eating and my fitness is enlightening and empowering.”
