Lifestyle Health Bob Harper Says He Had an 'Identity Crisis' After His Near-Fatal Heart Attack Bob Harper opens up about the emotional toll of his heart attack By Michelle Ward Trainor Published on January 31, 2018 01:03 PM Share Tweet Pin Email It’s been almost a year since Bob Harper had a near-fatal heart attack, and although he recovered physically, the emotional toll also took some healing. “I went through such an identity crisis,” the Biggest Loser host and trainer, who also battled depression, tells PEOPLE Now. “Think about it. I was the workout guy. I was the one you came to to want to workout and ask for health advice.” He continued: “I had to go back to the drawing board and find out what my purpose was. Who I am. I had to go through a lot personally and emotionally.” As the first anniversary of his heart attack (Feb. 12) creeps up, Harper opened up about how he is doing now. “I’m feeling good. I’m feeling strong,” he says. “I’m really excited about the new ventures that I’m doing.” One of those ventures is Survivors Have Heart, a program to help other heart attack survivors. His mission, says Harper, is “helping people. That’s what I want to do.” So, looking back, what are the words of encouragement the fitness coach would give himself just after his heart attack? “I guess, I would tell myself that it was all going to be okay, and that you are going to find a way on this new path and it’s all going to work out,” he says. “I really do believe that you can’t stress on the big things or the little things and I really try to live that way every day.”
