The Barbie director, 39, and partner Noah Baumbach, 53, quietly welcomed their second baby together four months ago, she revealed in an interview with Elle UK for the magazine's digital cover. "He’s a little Schmoo," she told the outlet of her newborn son. "I don’t know if you can tell energy from the picture, but that’s very much his energy. He’s a wise little baby." The Lady Bird director also noted that she hasn't been sleeping well since her little boy arrived. But I'm still doing that thing where I wake up, every hour to 90 minutes, and just hover," she shared. "You just keep wanting to look at that baby. So I'm slightly in a twilight state." The actress and director initially revealed that she was pregnant while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in December. "I am with child," she shared as the audience cheered in response. After host Jimmy Fallon thanked the Barbie writer and director for sharing the exciting news on his show, Gerwig noted that she actually thought she was going to reveal her pregnancy at another event but joked that "nobody cared" when she wore an outfit giving the news away. Daniele Venturelli/WireImage "I went to an event recently, and I wore something, and I thought everyone would be so interested that I was having another child, and nobody cared," the Little Women director recalled. "It didn't get reported on." "Turns out nobody's paying attention," she teased. "No, we are paying attention," Fallon replied. "We're so happy for you!" The comedian then asked Gerwig what her and Baumbach's 4-year-old son Harold thought about getting a new sibling. "It's hard to know what a 3-year-old makes of things that aren't existent yet in front of him," she said at the time. "He's beautifully sophisticated in some ways and then in other ways, he asks, 'What language do they speak in New Jersey?'"
