The Vanderpump Rules Cast Shares Their Expert Tips for Curing a Hangover
The SUR bartenders and servers who star on Vanderpump Rules have made a living putting their hard-partying lives on public display, so it’s only natural we’d defer to their expertise on how to get rid of a hangover.
To celebrate Monday night’s season premiere of the hit Bravo show, the Los Angeles-based reality stars took on New York City for — what else? — a bar crawl with fans. PEOPLE was along for the ride and caught up with the cast, who, appropriate for the occasion, dished on their best remedies for an overindulgent night.
Jax Taylor, who kicked off the morning with a taste test of all the Real Housewives‘ booze products, has a simple pairing that works for him. “Gatorade and bananas,” he says, admitting that the old “hair of the dog” trick doesn’t work as well for him anymore. “I’m getting old. When I drink, I usually have to take a couple days off.”
For a more scientific solution, we turn to unlikely medical expert Tom Sandoval. “Midol Complete is by far, for real the best hangover cure,” Sandoval says. “The reason is because it has an antihistamine in it, a pain reliever, a diuretic to help stop the migraines, and caffeine. Set your alarm half an hour before you’re supposed to get up, take the pill, go back to sleep and you’ll swing out of bed 30 minutes later.” (Sandoval’s co-star girlfriend, Ariana Madix, gave the same answer, taking credit for introducing him to it.)
If you’re lucky and have all day to laze around, however, adorable goof Tom Schwartz has a more ideal cure: “coconut water, a breakfast sandwich with Cholula hot sauce, and reruns of Friends.”

Kristen Doute, the show’s resident “recovering psycho” (Jennifer Lawrence’s words), has some very specific soda requirements to help her after a rough night. “Hands down, fountain Coca Cola from McDonald’s is my go to hangover cure,” she says. “I don’t know what kind of deal McDonald’s has with The Coca Cola Corp but they get a special, miracle batch. Pair that with some minestrone soup and saltines, and hangover be gone. Once I’m feeling slightly better I eat cucumber and watermelon to rehydrate.”
And, of course, Stassi Schroeder gave the answer we all wanted to hear. “I just normally keep drinking, so like, that’s my hangover cure.”
You can catch the crew — and their matriarch Lisa Vanderpump — on the show’s premiere, which airs Monday night (Nov. 7) at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
