Steve Carell Will Star in Pepsi's New Super Bowl Commercial—With a Cameo from Cardi B!

The soda company released three mysterious teaser videos that feature Carell, Cardi and rapper Lil Jon in a diner

After much speculation (and some sparkly hints on social media) Pepsi has confirmed that Steve Carell will star in their new Super Bowl 53 commercial—and it will include cameos from Cardi B and Lil Jon.

On Wednesday morning, the soda company released two video teasers for the ad: the first features Carell sitting in a diner and reading—and laughing over—what appears to be a funny script for the game-day commercial. The clip (above) ends with Carell turning directly to the camera and, with an amused shrug, saying, “Ahh, we’ll see!” Mysterious!

The second clip shows Cardi, sitting at a booth in the same diner, clicking her bejeweled, red-and-blue nails against a shiny, blinged-out Pepsi can. Lil Jon’s teaser was released last week, and focuses on the Atlanta rapper—yes, also standing in the diner—serving himself a cup of soda.

The soft drink company’s Super Bowl ads have become some of the most memorable and star-studded of the game. Last year, Cindy Crawford reprised her role from her iconic 1992 ad—which included an appearance from her son Presley Gerber. Other Pepsi commercial alumni include Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, One Direction, Pink, Madonna and the Spice Girls.

Last week, celebrity nail stylist Jenny Bui hinted at the project by posting a photo to Instagram featuring Cardi’s nails and the sparkly Pepsi can. “Loved this bejeweled set from Cardi’s shoot the other day @iamcardib,” wrote Bui.

Although Cardi isn’t scheduled to perform during the Super Bowl 53 halftime show on Feb. 3rd—Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Outkast’s Big Boi have all been confirmed—the “Bodak Yellow” rapper will hit the stage with Bruno Mars during the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest on the night before the game. Pepsi is also hosting a party in Atlanta on Friday night—which will be live-streamed for fans not able to be there in person—that includes a performance by Scott.
