Fret not, pumpkin spice haters — your seasonal flavor options are becoming more and more abundant.
On Wednesday (the first day of fall, as it so happens), Starbucks dropped a new warm-you-up caffeinated beverage on us: the Toasted Graham Latte.
“I thought about the back-to-school season and looked at the latest food and beverage trends,” the company’s R&D Manager Yoke Wong said in a statement. “What I found to be quite popular in the U.S. is the taste of cereal milk, the delicious leftovers in your breakfast bowl.” (Cereal ice cream, anyone?)
And so, the Toasted Graham was created. The official statement describes it as “an espresso beverage with steamed milk, flavors of graham and sweet cream and finished with a sprinkling of cinnamon graham crumbles.”
But does it live up to its promise? Luckily for you, we don’t mind being the guinea pigs, so we tried it out.
Upon first sip, the first thing that hit us was the toasted aspect. The bitterness of the espresso combined with the graham cracker flavor gives a gloriously toasty — almost burnt, but in a good way — flavor.
Secondly, the sweetness factor is more subtle than its pumpkin spice cousin. If you like it really sweet, you may want to ask for an extra pump of that sugar syrup stuff.
Overall, a solid ‘A’, though we wouldn’t mind a dollop of marshmallow creme to make it full-on s’mores-flavored.
