McDonald's Shamrock Shakes Are Back and the Internet (Rightfully) Rejoices
We’ve been waiting all winter for this.
Over the past few days, McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes — those minty, creamy ice confections that have earned an impressive cult following — have been spotted in stores around the country. The green shakes always come out a few weeks before St. Patrick’s Day, though we’re still not sure why they aren’t served year ’round.
Just as Pumpkin Spice Lattes mark the beginning fall, Shamrock Shakes mark the (almost) beginning of spring. The drink is so beloved that Burger King launched a knock-off version of their own this year: the Oreo Irish Mint Shake.
Shamrock Shake obsessives have taken to Instagram, Twitter and pretty much every social media network to post photos of their beloved beverages … because did it even happen if it’s not shared to the Internet for posterity?
With some stores beginning to serve the shake as early as February 10, the Shamrock Shake will be available until Thursday, March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day), or until supplies run out. And at the rate we’re downing them, we worry supplies will run out by, like, tomorrow.
