So far, Draper James — that’s the name of her new venture, which is a combination of her grandparents’ names — only has a sign-up page where you can submit your email (done and done) along with the tagline “Grace & Charm” and a brief introduction: “Welcome to Draper James, a new shopping experience inspired by Southern style, grace and charm.”
No word yet on the site’s official launch date, but back in February, the Louisiana-born actress told the blog Cricket’s Circle that her new “online business” would launch in May — perhaps conveniently timed with the opening of Hot Pursuit, her new film with Sofia Vergara? — and gave a little insider info on what to expect.
“I love all the Southern traditions that I grew up with,” Witherspoon, 39, said. “My grandmother instilled in me a love for dressing up and hosting family. She surrounded herself with colorful flowers and beautiful things. I wanted to bring all these ideas to a retail experience — it’s my way of giving back to the place I love the most. We will sell products made in the South by local artisans who are sharing their own traditions (think looming blankets, casting silver and denim). I can’t wait for people to see it because I have had so much fun working on it!”
Sounds like it will be mostly lust-worthy consumer products, but we’re still holding out hope that she’ll divulge a few recipes, including for her adorable #ToddlerArt, gigantic doughnuts and sunny-side-up breakfasts.
Witherspoon is the latest leading lady to launch a new lifestyle brand, following in the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Blake Lively’s Preserve and, most recently, Julianne Hough’s namesake site.
