Ree Drummond Dishes on Her New Fitness Routine: ‘I Want a Small Bottom and a Six-Pack’

Posted on

Namaste, Ree Drummond.

The star of Food Network’s Pioneer Woman revealed on her Instagram story on Tuesday that her and her husband Ladd want to start doing yoga together at home on their ranch just west of Pawhuska, Okla.

Though who couldn’t use an hour of deep breathing every day, Drummond listed a few hilarious reasons for picking up the workout: “a) He’s a cattle ranching athlete stud-muffin, but he can’t touch his toes and he wants more flexibility,” she wrote on a photo of matching yoga mats. “b) I can put my ankles behind my head and need no help with flexibility, but my jeans are tight and I want a small bottom and a six-pack.”

While the mom to Alex, 20, Paige, 18, Bryce, 15, and Todd, 13, is away traveling, she decided to kick off this new venture without Ladd—and it didn’t exactly go as planned.

“The funny part is that I got so winded carrying the yoga mats back to the hotel that I had to stop and rest,” she wrote. “And I almost called the Todd to come assist his elderly mother in carrying her yoga mats back to the hotel. The only thing that gave me the strength to continue on my own was fear of ridicule.”

Lucky for Drummond, Ladd—whose family has been in the cattle ranching business for five generations—is not on Instagram.

“I don’t think I’ll share this story with my husband,” she says. “I think when I get back to the ranch, I’ll just nonchalantly toss him his mat and say ‘Let’s do yoga, honey!'”

The couple have been married for nearly 21 years after meeting in a smoky bar in her hometown of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Drummond says their chemistry is just as strong as it was that first night.

“I’m also extremely attracted to my husband at age 48, which I think is pretty cool,” she told PEOPLE in September. “He’s just got these biceps…and if I see him on a horse, it’s all over.”
