The Crazy Rich Asians star made sure to bring a little liquid courage with her to the 2019 Oscars ceremony
Awkwafina knows the importance of a versatile accessory.
The Crazy Rich Asians actress (neé Nora Lum), 29, walked the red carpet at the 2019 Oscars on Sunday night with an extra-special accessory: a clutch that doubled as a flask.
Clearly not trying to hide the sneaky container, Awkwafina was spotted taking a sip from the bedazzled clutch while talking to reports on the carpet.
“That’s tequila,” she said after she turned the clutch on its side and took a sip.
Not only does the bag provide her with some liquid courage, but it also matched her outfit for the night. The sparkly clutch complimented her bold, metalic pantsuit.

“awkwafina casually taking a swig of tequila out of her fancy #oscards clutch is just *chef’s kiss*” wrote one Twitter user.
The night marked Awkwafina’s first time at the Oscars ceremony, where she is presenting.
Before heading inside, she also made sure to stop and take a few photos with her Crazy Rich Asians costars.
And while the blockbuster movie was nominated for the top honors at both the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards this year, it failed to factor into the best picture race at the Academy Awards.
“I don’t really know the exact reasoning behind it, but yeah, of course, it would have been cool,” Awkwafina previously told Page Six. “But we did have an amazing awards run. We were up for tons of awards and we actually won the Critics’ Choice best picture…we’re very grateful for the attention that it’s gotten.”
She added, “I don’t think we anticipated it to be nominated for any awards, so the fact that it got as much recognition as it did, I think that’s enough.”
