10 Celebrities Who Have Revealed Their (Sometimes Very Unusual) Pancake Secrets
DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON
The actor's go-to cheat meal is a huge stack of flapjacks—but he doesn't get fancy with it. Johnson uses good old Aunt Jemima mix to make his "world-famous" pancakes, which he doctors up with milk chocolate chips (not semi-sweet) and whipped cream.
The soccer star has perfected the art of the spatula-free flip, as evidenced in an Instagram video from Pancake Day 2017. His method is simple: Make one giant pancake the size of your non-stick skillet, and when it's ready to flip (i.e. you see bubbles), shake the skillet gently but repeatedly to release it from the pan. Then it's just a quick—yet confident—flick of the wrist.
Kimmel told PEOPLE the secret to his skills: “I just add organic food coloring to pancake mix and I put each one in a squirt bottle and I’ll just kind of squirt it out on to the pan,” he said with modesty.
JAMES VAN DER BEEK
The former first daughter adds a boost of nutrition to her daughter Charlotte's pancakes by putting pureed spinach in the batter. When she posted them on Twitter, they were met with some controversy, as is customary on Twitter.
The 25-year-old model is a pro at giving comfort food recipes a healthy makeover—like these funfetti pancakes with protein powder.
If there's anyone we trust to make us pancakes in the morning (or afternoon, or night), it's Flay. Our personal favorite in his portfolio are these carrot cake pancakes with maple cream cheese glaze.
The country-pop singer's breakfast skills are so on point, they may have even been the impetus for her engagement to fiancé Morgan Evans. “We were, like, literally in the kitchen making pancakes. And I was like, ‘Oh!',” she recalls of the morning he popped the question.
