Check out the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala's recipes for classic corn pudding and the Derby Corpse Reviver, a bourbon-based cocktail
To help spice up your Derby viewing party on Sunday, PEOPLE turned to the weekend’s most star-studded event for some tasty inspiration.
Every year, the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala brings together celebrities and guests—including Kid Rock, Megyn Kelly, Kate Upton, Alabama Shakes, and more—for a night filled with music and delicious local favorites.
On the 2016 menu: classic Southern dish like a creamy corn pudding and the Derby Corpse Reviver drink—a twist on a 1930s cocktail using bourbon instead of the gin.
Serve them at your viewing party, and hopefully they’ll last longer than the two minute race! Better make two batches, just in case.
Derby Corpse River
¾ ounce bourbon
¾ ounce curaçao
¾ ounce lemon juice
¾ ounce Kina Lillet
Fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice as well as the bourbon, curacao, lemon juice and Kina Lillet. Shake and chill, then strain into a glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
2 cups fresh, frozen or canned corn
2 cups milk
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
3 eggs beaten
Pour milk over corn, mixed with sugar, flour and salt. Beat eggs well and add to mixture. Pour into 1 ½ – quart greased casserole. Dot top with pats of margarine. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Stir twice during first 20 minutes of baking time. Serves 4-6.
