At the launch of her new flavors of Seagram’s Escapes, the singer told PEOPLE about her love of Mexican food. “I am a nacho wh—. I swear to you. I was raised in Texas, so Tex-Mex was just my s—. Nachos, carne asada, burritos, tacos — I could have tacos every day.”
Though she had never heard of the latest fad diet that actually encourages this behavior, she was intrigued to say the least — and says she pretty much already adheres to it on occasion.
“Tacos make everybody happy,” she says. “I eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner sometimes. We have a chef come in and make food every day because I like to eat really clean — she’ll make a Texas breakfast taco, then for lunch I’ll have turkey tacos, and for dinner I’ll also have turkey tacos.” (But before you go running for the tortillas, she admits she usually replaces the carbs with butter lettuce).
When she’s doing the cooking herself, though, Rowland keeps it light and simple. “Right now my signature dish is probably just fish. I just learned to cook it right. Very simple — olive oil, salt and pepper. Sometimes with a little lemon. But I don’t do too much to it; I don’t feel like you need to.”
And how have Rowland’s eating habits affected her 1-year-old son, Titan? “[He eats] everything,” she says. “I don’t want him to be a picky eater, because mama loves everything. I don’t want him to be one of those kids that’s like ‘Ew, I don’t like that.’ We literally have tried everything with him since he’s been able to eat food.”
