Judy Greer is ready for fall. But Los Angeles, as sweaty as ever, is not.
“I’m so sick of all my warm weather clothes. I’m looking longingly at my sweaters and leather leggings,” Greer tells PEOPLE. “I tried on a cardigan when I was shopping last week and was like, ‘What’s the point?'”
Putting aside the unseasonably warm L.A. weather, the Married actress loves everything about autumn: the hot lattes, the cardis, the television offerings. (“We just finished Blood Line. Hashtag obsessed. And I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”)
But she doesn’t quite understand the national obsession with pumpkin spice lattes.
“I’m not into pumpkin spice. People go insane. I think it’s because everyone’s excited for fall. I’m excited for fall … but I don’t think it’s ever going to come to Los Angeles,” she says.
Greer drinks roughly four to seven cups a day. Dairy-sensitive, she takes her coffee with Lactaid — which she’s recently partnered with. Her favorite lactose-free product? Cottage cheese, which she enjoys with … chili.
“Cottage cheese is so good on chili. It half melts. I like to leave some on top, and then I mix it in. It makes it creamy.” (Greer assures us this is a Midwest thing. We’re not sure how to feel about it.)
While Greer isn’t much of a cook (“I’m terrible. I just assemble,”) she did drunkenly prepare soba noodles for herself and her husband after they came home from a party. So there’s that.
“It was really weird, but really good.”
After another five minutes of discussing cottage cheese, we asked Greer, who wrote the book I Don’t Know What You Know Me From: Confessions of a Costar, whether she minds being stopped on the street for her roles.
“Every day someone is like, ‘I love you!,’ or ‘Say goodbye to these!’ from Arrested Development, or ‘You’re not my supervisor’ from Archer. I would think it would be old by now, but it’s not,” she says. “Sometimes when they’re like, ‘I love you in the Wedding Planner!’ and I feel like, God, that movie came out so long ago. But you know what? I still watch Tootsie all the time, and that came out way longer ago. I get it. Some movies just stick.”
We had to ask: Arrested Development season five. Is it happening — and can she talk about it?
“I don’t know, and no.”
