Jennifer Lopez is very disciplined when it comes to her diet– and it shows!
“I have her eating very clean because she needs really good fuel for all the things that she’s doing,” her trainer Tracy Anderson tells PEOPLE. “It’s all organic and it’s all very well thought out, with the balance of very high quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food.”
“Everything is fresh,” says Anderson. “There’s nothing processed – just [protein powder] in a shake if we do a protein shake one day.”
While she eats clean the majority of the time, Lopez also allows herself to indulge when the time is right.
“She is a very balanced person, so she’s not going to miss out on Thanksgiving or a holiday with her children,” says Anderson. “That’s one of the reasons why the workout is important, and it’s so consistent – so we don’t do any kind of extreme dieting.”
Lopez knows the food she eats is an integral part of her overall health.
“Throughout the years I’ve learned the importance of maintaining a healthier […] diet,” she previously told PEOPLE. “I still eat some of the foods I love, but in moderation. I don’t deprive myself.”
One way she stays on track with her diet is by planning ahead.
“Being constantly on the go, I always like to have healthier snack options like fruits or vegetables with me,” Lopez said.
Anderson says her client’s attention to nutrition is part of her overall goal of living a happy and fulfilling life – which is where her beauty really comes from.
“What’s going on inside of us is a really reflection of what’s going on on the outside of us, and she’s very a happy person and that just translates into beauty,” says Anderson. “She loves life, and loving life is taking care of her body.”
