Sugar, sugar! When author and Australian television host Sarah Wilson decided to completely cut sugar from her diet, she was so inspired by the experience that she knew she had to write every crazy, surprising, positive and negative aspect down.

And in her book I Quit Sugar, Wilson uncovered some not-so-sweet numbers: Many of your favorite foods are packed with shocking amounts of hidden sugars. The American Heart Association recommends eating no more than 6 to 9 teaspoons of sugar a day, but many packaged foods have that much (and more) in one meal or snack.

Wilson believes the biggest culprits are seemingly “healthy” foods, including low-fat yogurts, fruit juices, breakfast bars and adult cereals.
