People Editorial Guidelines Published on March 1, 2019 02:37 PM Share Tweet Pin Email The only thing the Internet loves more than pizza is watching someone eating pizza in an unexpected place. So it should come as no surprise to see that the web went wild this week for “Hallway Pizza Guy.” The man, who Inside Edition ID’ed as Georgetown University undergraduate student Thomas Connelly, become a viral star after he was caught chowing down on a slice of pizza in the background of a live CBSN shot broadcasting from the hallways of the committee room during a break from Michael Cohen’s 9-hour Congressional testimony. CBS political correspondent Ed O’Keefe was talking at the time Connelly walked into the camera’s frame and proceeded to take a bite out of his slice, box still in hand. Before Connelly could even swallow, someone from off-camera — seemingly a producer — alerted him of where he was standing. Seemingly terrified, Connelly made eye contact with the camera before shuttling away. It was a scene that lasted only a few seconds, but viewer Mike Uehlein caught it and posted a clip of it on Twitter. “[That face when] you go to eat your hallway pizza and get told you’re in the live shot,” he captioned the video. What the…Fork? The ‘Pizza Fork’ Has Arrived As the Utensil We’re Not Sure We Needed The tweet was spread soon thereafter, with a sea of hilarious comments following suit. “We’ve all been there at some point in life!” wrote Fox TV host John Brown. “Now I’m craving a pizza for dinner.” “The hero Americans need but don’t deserve 🇺🇸” joked the Alt Library of Congress. Even Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got into the action. “To be fair, the hearing yesterday went 9 hours and there‘s little/no time to eat,” she tweeted. “I did the same thing afterwards 😂” And if that weren’t enough, on Friday, NBC’s Today show got into the action – with Al Roker recreating the meme during Carson Daly’s segment on the clip. Meanwhile, &Pizza — the chain who sold Connelly the pie he was eating — has gone and capitalized on the popularity of the Internet’s latest celeb. Kim Kardashian Sends Jonathan Cheban a Burger Birthday Cake Delivered By 4 of Her Look-Alikes The company has announced Hallway Pizza, a pie dubbed after Connelly’s nickname and developed “for meat & attention lovers.” It includes spice tomato, mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage, banana peppers and BBQ sauce. Connelly’s image even appears on ads for the special, which an &Pizza spokesperson told Eater came with his permission. They’ve gone one step further, too, and created a GoFundMe campaign for the teen to raise money for more pizza. “His appetite got the best of him,” the campaign read. “Let’s keep feeding the beast.” As of Friday, the campaign has raised $300 (of it’s $10 goal). All of the fame has “shocked” Connelly, his friend, Jack Korologos, told Inside Edition. “My guess is his only priority was eating the pizza in the short amount of time he had,” Korologos told the outlet, explaining that the two had woken up at 5:30 a.m. to get in line for Cohen’s hearings “to see history being made.” Instead, Korologos’s pal ended up making history.
