Gisele Bündchen's Secret Weapon to Keep Her Kids Healthy (Hint: Tastes Just Like Ice Cream!)

Gisele Bündchen has a secret weapon to keeping her kids healthy — and she is convinced it tastes just like ice cream!

The retired supermodel, who shares two children — Benjamin and Vivian — with Tom Brady and is stepmom to the NFL quarterback’s son, Jack, loves living an active lifestyle, a trait that she and her husband have instilled into their family of five.

“Our oldest (Jack), is obsessed with soccer. Benny loves hockey, and the little one, she’s just only 3-and-a-half, so she’s into anything,” Gisele, who will appear on Wednesday’s upcoming episode of National Geographic’s Years of Living Dangerously, tells PEOPLE. “She actually does yoga! And just running around.”

Bündchen, 36, begins each day with lukewarm water and lemon, which she follows with a homemade green juice made with “whatever I have in the fridge,” including spinach, kale, celery, cucumber, ginger, turmeric, and an apple, “to make it sweeter.”

When it comes to the kids, the mother of three switches it up in the kitchen each morning. Ranging from scrambled eggs and gluten-free toast with avocado to coconut yogurt and the occasional gluten-free pancake, Bündchen makes breakfast for her little ones every day. To implement fruits into their diet, she serves the kid-favorite combo acai with berries and banana — and tries to convince them that it’s ice cream!

Although Bündchen maintains a healthy and active lifestyle, caffeine is not to be credited. “I don’t drink coffee. I do like tea though, but at night. A cup of tea before I go to sleep.”

“I exercise daily, I drink a lot of water, I eat healthy and we have a very healthy diet at home,” Bündchen explains of being happy. “I think all of that helps, but it’s also about an attitude and how you take care of your body and if you are nourishing yourself with the foods you eat and the thoughts you have.”

In addition to being a model and actress, the Brazilian puts her green thumb to work in the family garden, which the family reaps the benefits of in the kitchen.

“We use the food from our garden daily. Winter in New England is very cold, so we can’t grow the same amount of food year around,” Bündchen explains, and adds, “During the growing season, we love our salads made from the spinach, kale, arugula, tomatoes cucumbers, zucchinis, squash and the other delicious things from our garden.”

Bündchen’s episode of Years of Living Dangerously airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on National Geographic.
