George Clooney Toasts His Engagement with Tequila

George Clooney Engagement Casamigos Cocktail

When George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin celebrated their surprise engagement last week with friends at L.A. hotspot Craig’s, they already had the perfect drink on hand for toasts: the restaurant’s Skinny Amiga, made with the actor’s very own tequila brand, Casamigos.

Craig’s, where Clooney has often celebrated big occasions like last year’s Best Picture Oscar for Argo (and the shaving of Ben Affleck’s facial hair), makes the simple cocktail with white tequila, agave nectar, and lime and pomegranate juices. It’s just the sort of smooth, low-key drink that characterizes the actor’s easygoing personality. (The menu also includes a Danny Ocean cocktail, created and named after Clooney’s Ocean’s Eleven character, made with cherry liqueur, pink grapefruit juice and fresh lemon juice.)

The world’s most famous bachelor, who once said marriage is “not something I’m looking out for,” founded the tequila brand last year with best friend Rande Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s hubby. The pals own homes next door to each other in Mexico, where they started drinking tequila together and decided to make one to their exact liking. Since its introduction, Casamigos has gotten rave reviews, something the star of Up in the Air and The Descendants knows a lot about.

Although Clooney and Gerber “prefer drinking tequila chilled neat, on the rocks or straight from the bottle, when they are at home entertaining friends, these are a few of the recipes they use,” a Casamigos representative tells PEOPLE.

Even if you won’t be personally sharing a toast with the happy couple, you can still get a taste by mixing up their cocktails at home.
