Doritos Wants You to Pick Its Super Bowl Ad
Voting for the brand's Crash the Super Bowl contest ends Wednesday, so pick your favorite spot while there's still time
It’s hard to compete with that super-cute Budweiser puppy, but at Sunday’s Super Bowl, Doritos is hoping to try.
For the eighth year, the brand is running its Crash the Super Bowl contest, asking aspiring filmmakers from around the world to submit their most hilarious 30-second spots featuring the crunchy, cheesy, ranchy goodness. Thousands of entries were narrowed to 29, and now 10 finalists from the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia remain. Fans can vote on their favorites until 11:59 p.m. this Wednesday, Jan. 28, and the winner will be revealed sometime during Sunday’s big game.
Michelle LaRue, who stars in finalist “Middle Seat,” says that while she obviously has a favorite, the response to all 10 ads has been great. “It’s funny because there are a couple of others that I think are cute, and when I say that, a friend will say, ‘Oh I don’t like that one, but I do like this one.’ Everyone has a different choice.
“It’s really cool to see the differences in all the spots,” she adds, “and that people from out of the country want to participate in something like the Super Bowl, that’s so American.”
Maybe this is why: The creators of the winning add will win $1 million and a ‘dream job’ with Universal Pictures. A runner-up will also air during the Super Bowl; the creator of that ad will win $50,000. The creators of all 10 final ads get to attend the Super Bowl on Sunday and sit with Elizabeth Banks as they anticipate the big reveal (which is prize enough, if you ask us!).
Check out all 10 spots below, and vote on your favorites at crashthesuperbowl.doritos.com.
