That is, if you live in Thailand. If an effort to help lower the obesity rate (the country currently has the 2nd highest in South East Asia), the Thai Health Promotion Foundation has released the AbsorbPlate, which promises to cut about 30 calories from each Thai meal.
So, how does it work? The mechanisms of the plate are explained in this below video clip, and they are quite fascinating.
“Inspired by the surface of a sponge,” the product, which was created by BBDO Bangkok, was designed with 500 tiny holes “to separate excess oil from food before people eat it.” Each plate sucks up up to 7ml of grease per meal.
All in all, cutting calories has never sounded easier.
