After a Craigslist advertisement for a “generic father” to man the grill at their upcoming barbecue went viral, a group of twenty-something guys are upping their qualifications: They won’t settle for anyone less than Bill Murray.
“We will be throwing a backyard BBQ on June 17th to celebrate beer and each other,” the Spokane, Washington roommates write in their post. “We range in age from 21-26, and while most of us know how to operate a grill, none of us are prepared to fill the role of ‘BBQ Dad.'”
Duties for the unpaid position include: “Grilling hamburgers and hotdogs (whilst drinking beer). Bringing your own grill (though this is subject to change. We will provide all of the meat). Refer to all attendees as ‘Big Guy’, ‘Chief’, ‘Sport’, ‘Champ’ etc. (whilst drinking beer). Talk about dad things, like lawnmowers, building your own deck, Jimmy Buffet, etc. Funny anecdotes are highly encouraged. All whilst drinking beer.”
A representative for “The Boys” hosting the event on Father’s Day weekend, Dane Anderson, told the Huffington Post that they received a number of responses, including from a man named Stan, after local news station KHQ first picked up their story. But they’ve since set their sights on a dad far from generic.
“With all the publicity, we’ve decided to ‘Go Bill or Go Home.’ Bill Murray that is,” said Anderson. “We are dead-set on getting Bill to be our father figure #BillOrBust.”

Though Murray is known to show up at events when you least expect him, Anderson and his crew might want to take a look at these barbecue tips just in case he’s busy with like, his own family, and they find themselves behind the grill alone.
