It’s no secret Coco Rocha is a force to be reckoned with in the modeling world — especially when it comes to her many poses — but did you know the self-proclaimed “tech geek” is also gifted when it comes to interior design?
For its December issue, InStyle stepped inside the home Rocha shares with husband James Conran and their 8-month-old daughter, Ioni. Nestled in White Plains, New York, the quaint cottage “looked like Ireland, not Westchester,” the model tells the magazine.
While the couple overhauled the three-bedroom, stone home’s kitchen and bathrooms, its overall vibe saw the most transformation with the addition of bright color palettes, which replaced the abode’s dark interior.
“James actually helped with the design of my very first New York apartment, when I was 18,” Rocha said. “We were just friends at that point, but designing together is what brought us closer.”
Something else that impacted their design taste? Parenthood. Once Ioni entered the picture, Rocha and Conran decided to introduce more whimsicality and “to be more fun, less stoic.”
Ioni’s nursery is filled with artwork by Downtown and Donald Robertson, among others, and much like the rest of the home, is made up of unique pieces —most notably, a lacquered-maple crib purchased from a furniture-maker in Aspen. “It’s hard to find one that’s interesting-looking and not dated,” says Conran.
